Dr. Anna McCarthy is committed to helping clients explore problematic personal or relationship patterns that may be preventing them from leading a valued, fulfilling life. She is a caring and empathetic therapist who strives to create a safe and supportive environment within which clients can explore issues that are distressing them. Dr. McCarthy creates individually-tailored treatment plans for each client and always focuses on what the client would like to accomplish in therapy. Dr. McCarthy has expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapy (effective for treating depression, anxiety, phobias, and relationship difficulties, etc.) and uses specialized treatments to help people suffering from the effects of childhood abuse and trauma. She has been successful in helping people with many types of traumas (interpersonal, combat, childhood etc.) using empirically supported treatments to reduce symptoms of PTSD. Her work with a trauma victim was featured on the season premiere of the award-winning TV show “Intervention” (first broadcast on national TV June 28th 2010).
